ENCLOSED: PETITION to the IOWA Legislature

In January, the next session of the Iowa Legislature will convene.  As was the case last year, Democrats have a majority in both the House and the Senate and Democrat Chet Culver is the Governor.  As a result, the labor movement should be able to get key legislation passed. 

Our four legislative priorities for the session are:

þ Fair Share

þ Employee
   Choice of
   Doctor

þ Prevailing
    Wage

þ Public Sector  Bargaining
Give management and unions the ability to negotiate contract clauses that would require workers in a recognized bargaining unit to either pay union dues or pay a fee to the union. Give workers injured on the job the right to choose their doctor.

Require that wages on certain government contracts be equal to the prevailing wages in the area of the various crafts.

 

 

Substantially increase the number of mandatory subjects of bargaining.
