Testimony
The Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO officers testify before legislative
committees and commissions on issues important to working families.
- Community
Economic Betterment Program
- Workplace Hair and Saliva Testing
- House File 304
On March 26, 2001 the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO presented comments
on an effort to pass legislation that we believed would make voting more
difficult. It would have made satellite voting more difficult as well
as increasing the voter registration deadlines and requiring individuals to
vote at the polls the first time after they register.
- House Files 2090 and 2091
On February 5,
2002 the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO presented comments
on efforts to pass legislation that would make Project Labor Agreements
illegal on public projects in Iowa. We believe this is unnecessary and
unreasonable legislation that should be defeated.
- Senate File 165
On February 13, 2002 the Iowa Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO presented comments
on an effort to pass legislation to make "English-only". We
believe that this legislation is divisive and discriminatory. During
these trying times of budget difficulties, we believe the legislature should
spend its time on important issues rather than political gamesmanship.
